Namaste If you think being a Monk is only a life or prayer and work, this book may give you a different view. I do not believe ift reflects what happens in most monasteries but but what could happen when one goes astray.
The book is a bit slow and there is way too much time explaining the same thing over and over.. It did have some interesting bits but it seemed a little restrained, which may have been the point, so the potential action was more limited than it could have been.
Well written book. The hero or "anti-hero" is a unique character with nearly supernatural powers. There is plenty of action and the story moves seamlessly from beginning to end. There are few typos or grammatical errors but not serious enough to interfere with the enjoyment of the story.
If you have read anything these guys have written, you do not need someone else to tell you just how great they are at developing characters that captivate and elicite true emotion.
This book is a departure in the sense there is no Fantasy or Science Fiction aspect so far. This has a very graphic and fun "Vengence" feel to it. I can picture this being filmed by QT himself.

This may be 5 stars for some. I had to fast forward skip the graphic details of torture and extremely drawn out bloody deaths. Not my kind of entertainment. The story line has some merit , but seemed to hover needlessly on ghoulish overly extended descriptions. Since there are some dark souls who salivate over this type of imagery it seems 3 stars is a balanced review...similar to what the story promotes.
Not at all what I expected when I read the title....but wow this is a book that you can not put down! Well written, the plot is twisted and really challenges the reader to think of life from many angles! Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed! It's a heavy mystery/ thriller...but the lessons taught by the monks are extremely mind provoking!
Loved this book and would really like more of it.
The main character was extremely likeable, flexible, an efficient killing machine, disciplined and learned on the fly just by observing. I liked how bold and confident he was.
The writing was great and comes full circle without dragging us through the mud or making it 'hurt' to read it.
I would definitely recommend it and would read another series in this saga.
